Hardness testing of plastics and rubber - accurate, portable and standardized
ZwickRoell's hardness testers for plastics, rubber and elastomers - available through ZRS Testing Systems - offer reliable and standardized measurement of Shore and IRHD hardness. These methods are essential for quality control of low stiffness materials, where traditional hardness methods are not applicable.
The measurement is made by pressing an indenter into the sample material, and the indentation depth is used to calculate the hardness value. This provides a quick and effective indicator of the mechanical properties of the material - particularly important for production, inspection checks and material comparisons.
Whether you need a simple solution for quick inspection testing or more stable measurements in a laboratory environment, we offer the right model - with full support from ZRS for calibration, advice and technical service.
Our instruments - from portable to fully automated
For these methods we offer, among others, the ZwickRoell 3105 Combi Test - a microcomputer-controlled hardness tester with very high measurement accuracy for several IRHD ranges (including supersoft) and Shore measurements. For easier use, analog Shore testers are available with or without tensile wipers - ideal for testing directly on the component, even in hard-to-reach positions. Our digital Shore testers can be connected to the testXpert III for easy data transfer and result documentation.
